Well, here we are again – it’s Valentines Day tomorrow and I see the shops are full of Valentines cards and merchandise for us to buy and give to someone else.
Of course, it’s lovely to tell someone else that you care for them and love them, but what about ourselves?

Mindfulness practice is a great way for us to start to develop kindness, generosity and love towards ourselves – after all if we can’t love ourselves, how can we truly love someone else?

“You, yourself, as much as anyone else in the entire universe, deserves your love and affection”
By Buddha

This can be especially helpful when we are experiencing difficulties in life or if we are feeling agitated, worried or low in mood.
Sending ourselves some love and attention can help to soften the unpleasant feelings and help us to find a sense of calm and comfort.

You might simply ask yourself “what is it that I need right now?” perhaps a walk in the fresh air, a chat with a friend, a cup of tea or to listen to music.
You might also like to give yourself a few minutes of quiet and stillness as you sit and practice mindfulness.
Practices such as the Loving Kindness or Three Step Kindfulness practice can be found on our Present Mind Mindfulness App for you to listen to if you choose.

Warmest wishes,
